“We strive for excellence by encouraging all our pupils to fulfil their true potential. Our mission is founded on Christian values, principles and beliefs.

As a Church school we believe in Friendship, Thankfulness and Service to the whole community, and welcome children whatever their faith or belief.”

Mrs Alison Small, Headteacher

Here you will be able to find all the information you need to know about our school.

Alderbury and West Grimstead Church of England Primary School is a ‘single-form entry’ school. Classes are limited to a maximum of 30 children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 (like all schools), and classes in Years 3 to 6 are usually around this size, too.

If you want to apply for a Reception place in 2020, please check our Admissions procedure under Key Info on the tabs above.

Every year the governing body will review and publish information concerning the Alderbury & West Grimstead school admission policy. This will confirm the maximum number of children to be admitted to the school as a whole, the Pupil Admissions Number (PAN) which is currently 30 and explain how places will be allocated.

If there is anything you would like to know that you can’t find here, please contact us. We would love to talk to you!

What’s Been Said

“Thank you so much for my warm welcome. I had a great time. AWGS is a lovely, lovely school. Smiling seems to be the default setting.“

‘There’s a lovely family feel to the school, it feels as if it has been here for ever.’

‘I recently spent time at School, in my professional capacity as a Library Systems Trainer and Cataloguer. I was e impressed by all that I encountered at Alderbury. A great and positive atmosphere, caring and helpful staff who were always willing to help, however busy they were, and pupils who were a real credit to the school.’

‘Pupils are very reflective and think deeply about issues such as ‘Peace’ ‘Values’; this confirms strengths in their spiritual, moral and social and cultural development’

Communication via emails and phone calls will be dealt with during school hours.  The most effective way of making contact with staff remains to speak with them at the school door or to contact the school office. There is no expectation that staff will check their emails when at home during the evening or at weekends.  I hope this helps.

The thought of the week is:

“When have you been the voice of hope and encouraged someone to try one more time?”

World Book Day

This year World Book Day is Thursday 5th March and the children are encouraged to come to school dressed as a book character. There will be various activities during the day but we would like the children to bring in a book to share as there will be free reading time set aside to read their favourite book to each other.

In addition, ahead of World Book Day we are once again setting an Extreme Reading Challenge for the half term break. Please send in a photo of your child reading in an unusual location – prizes for ‘The strangest place to read a book’, will be awarded at the end of term.

Second Match of the Salisbury Orienteering League

Our Orienteers put in some excellent times when they took part in the second match at Dinton Park, Dinton last Friday. They did so well they were able to improve on their 4th place in the first match by coming in 3rd place this time.

Parking request

Once again, we would politely ask you to park responsibly on the wooded side of Firs Road and to try and avoid parking along Woodlea Grange. We have had complaints from our neighbours of parents parking across drive ways etc. Thank you.

Boundary Coffee Shop at The Village Hall
