Lexia

What is Lexia?

Lexia is an award‑winning, research‑based reading programme that helps children develop essential literacy skills. Used in schools across the UK and internationally, it supports pupils from early readers through to confident, fluent learners by combining engaging online activities with targeted teacher-led support. We use Lexia for all of our pupils in Y1/2 and some other groups across the school to support reading practice.

How Lexia Helps Our Pupils

  • Personalised learning: Each child works through interactive reading tasks at their own pace. The programme adapts automatically, giving extra practice where needed and moving pupils on when they’re ready.

  • Covers key reading skills: Lexia strengthens phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, and fluency—core building blocks of the science of reading.

  • Clear, real‑time data for teachers: Lexia provides teachers with up‑to‑date information on how each child is progressing. This helps staff identify gaps quickly and deliver focused, effective support.

  • Boosts confidence and independence: Children enjoy the game‑style activities and can see their own progress, helping them stay motivated and engaged.

Why We Use Lexia

Lexia has more than 40 years of research behind it and is trusted by thousands of schools to improve reading outcomes. It helps us ensure every child receives the right level of challenge and support, making literacy learning more accessible and equitable for all pupils.
