Admissions
Welcome to AWGS Admissions
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision, and we are delighted that you are considering Alderbury & West Grimstead Church of England Primary School for your family. We warmly welcome enquiries from prospective parents and carers and are happy to help you through our admissions process.
Starting School (Reception Year)
If your child is due to start primary school (Reception), you should apply through Wiltshire Council’s admissions process. Applications for Reception places open via the council’s online portal each autumn and must be submitted by the published deadline each January. Places are then allocated by the local authority, with offers usually made in the spring for the following September intake.
To apply for a Reception place, please complete the Wiltshire Council Admissions Form.
In-Year Admissions (Changing Schools)
If you are looking for a place outside of the normal admissions round (for example, if you are moving house or changing schools mid-year), please contact the school office in the first instance. We would be very happy to discuss current availability and next steps. You will need to apply using the Wiltshire Council in-year admissions process.
Visiting the School
We encourage prospective families to visit the school to get a sense of daily life at AWGS and to meet our staff. To arrange a visit or tour with our headteacher, please contact the school office on 01722 710464 or email admin@alderbury.wilts.sch.uk.
Visits give you the opportunity to see our learning environment, hear about our curriculum, and ask any questions you may have about life at AWGS.
Key Documents
You can find our Admissions Policy on this page. These documents explain our entry arrangements, criteria and how places are allocated.
If you need further guidance or support completing the forms, please contact the school — we’re always happy to help.
