We follow a text based approach to English using resources from CLPE (Power of Reading). This approach focuses on immersing children in high quality texts to support the teaching of reading and writing. The book provides the context for writing, giving children an audience and purpose. This is important so children can think about what they are writing and why. By immersing children in whole texts, this provides richer reading experiences and children can use their full understanding of the story when predicting or making inferences. Reading and writing are linked and feed into one another.
