Year 1 Class Page

Welcome to Squirrels Class!

In Year One, we love to challenge ourselves to do better every day. We work hard, try our very best and enjoy learning new things. We love books and we work really hard on our phonics so that we can learn to read and even write our own stories!  We are really curious so we love finding out how things work in Maths and Science.

We are taught with Year R and some of us are taught with Year 2. For some lessons, such as Phonics, we are taught as a whole Year 1 class and we have lots of other lovely adults who help us with our learning in class. We even have a squirrel who lives in our class and we work hard to earn acorns to feed him!

You can help your Year One child at home by listening to them read every day, practicing counting and encouraging writing at every opportunity! After October half term, we will have spellings to learn too.
