EYFS Owls
Welcome to Owls Class
In Year R we follow the 'Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum'. We use a thematic approach to learning. The themes used are broad enough for the children's own interests to be incorporated within them, thus make their learning more personal and relevant.
In Year R, the children are taught by Mrs Anderson on Mondays to Wednesdays and Mrs Meaden on Thursdays and Fridays. They are also supported by a team of very experienced Learning Support Assistants.
We have a lovely big, bright classroom with a purpose built outside area where the children have the opportunity to put into practice skills they have learned, through their own child initiated learning.
We love to take our learning outside and we have wonderful school grounds, including a trim trail, a pond, a quiet reflective area called 'A Sacred Space' and the school vegetable patches, that give us the freedom to be explorers and learn through investigation.
Parents are provided with 'WOW' cards and are encouraged to write down any achievements that occur at home. The children can then bring them in and we will celebrate their achievement in school. They will then be stuck in their Learning Journals.
In the first half of the autumn term our theme is 'All About Me: Who am I?'. During the second half of the term our themes are 'People Who Help Us: Who helps us in the community?' and 'Christmas'.
During the spring term we will be exploring 'Dragons and Castles' and the 'All Creatures Great and Small'.
In the summer term our themes are 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'Water, Water, Everywhere'.
If you feel you can help or support us with any of our themes, please do let us know!
